Jaume Collet-Serra to Direct Netflix Thriller An Innocent Girl

Info in Movie News | Jaume Collet-Serra, the director who is hailed as the one keeping the audiences at the edge of their seats, is making his return to Netflix through a new psychological thriller movie An Innocent Girl. This is one that takes the audience to the darker corners of the states, namely, ambition, seduction, and deadly secrets, all of which are in Washington D.C.

According to Variety, the movie follows a young, driven woman who gets pulled into a dangerous spiral of sex, power, and murder after being lured in by a high-powered D.C. couple. The script was originally written by Michael Mohan (Immaculate) and is currently being polished by Marc Guggenheim (Arrow, Carnival Row).

The project is being produced by Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter under Berlanti/Schechter Films, continuing their creative partnership with Netflix. Guggenheim is also on board as an executive producer alongside Mike McGrath and Scott Greenberg.

Collet-Serra is no stranger to Netflix hits—his action thriller Carry On, starring Taron Egerton and Jason Bateman, became the platform’s second most-watched movie ever, racking up 172.1 million views and over 344 million hours watched.

In a January chat with Variety, he said he’s open to a sequel: “I would like to definitely make another one. When we started with the movie, it certainly felt like one unique story in a moment in time… but if an idea comes along that feels fresh and connects with the audience again, we’ll explore it.”

In addition to Carry On, Collet-Serra did a great job, his previous portfolio included The Shallows, Jungle Cruise, and The Woman in the Yard. The next movie after An Innocent Girl will be the 1993 cult action movie Cliffhanger planned to have a reboot, the leading actors will be Lily James and Pierce Brosnan.
