Info in Movie News | Wednesday Addams is back at Nevermore Academy, and no, she’s not thrilled about it. With new enemies lurking, a stalker sending cryptic threats, and her name now plastered all over campus like some reluctant rockstar, Wednesday’s sophomore year is shaping up to be even stranger than the last. According to The Guardian, Season 2 opens with a flash of chaos. After saving Nevermore from the undead pilgrim Joseph Crackstone in Season 1, Wednesday has earned a cult-like following among her peers. However, the goth queen of gloom is rather unimpressed. However, the goth queen of gloom is not satisfied. “I liked it better when I was feared and hated,” she grumbles, while her peers gather around her, begging for autographs. But there’s no time for admiration, or personal space. Within minutes of the first episode, we’re introduced to a fresh villain, the Kansas City Scalper. Wes Anderson’s New Film Pairs a Billionaire Dad with a Nun Daughter

Info in Movie News | Wes Anderson’s back with another quirky tale, and this time it’s a wild father-daughter duo at the center of it all. In The Phoenician Scheme, Benicio del Toro plays one of Europe’s richest men, while Mia Threapleton (yep, Kate Winslet’s daughter) plays his daughter—who just happens to be a nun. Not your typical family drama.

According to Variety, del Toro stars as Zsa-zsa Korda, a flamboyant business magnate, and Threapleton takes on the role of Sister Liesel, his daughter who’s chosen a completely different path in life. Rounding out the trio is Michael Cera as Bjorn Lund, Liesel’s tutor. The film also boasts a stacked cast including Tom Hanks, Scarlett Johansson, Riz Ahmed, Benedict Cumberbatch, Jeffrey Wright, and more.

Based completely in Germany, the movie was co-written by Anderson and his long-time collaborator Roman Coppola, along with the music composed by Alexandre Desplat, who’s mostly the go-to composer for that unique Anderson feel.

Asteroid City (2023) and The French Dispatch (2021) are among Anderson’s recent works. In 2024, he also won his first Oscar for the short film The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar. Despite his unmistakable style, Anderson once said in 2023 that he doesn’t actually think about his “style” while working: “I think about what’s new for this movie… and yet every time I make a movie, the first thing people say is: ‘You can sure tell who made this one!’”

The Phoenician Scheme will hit theaters in limited release on May 30, with a wider release set for June 6 through Focus Features—the same distributor behind Asteroid City and Moonrise Kingdom. With its offbeat story and star-studded cast, this might just be Anderson’s most unexpected project yet.
