Info in Movie News | Toei Animation has publicly announced that Digimon Beatbreak, the newest entry of the Digimon series, will debut on October 5, 2025, in Japan. This upcoming anime series is definitely a new chapter for the franchise as it is a much darker tone, a emotionally demanding plot, and a more grown-up main character who is quite different from the heroes of the past Digimon this.
According to Collider, the plot is introduced first. It is revealed that the story follows Tomoro Tenma, a young male character whose voice is provided by Miyu Irino who has also worked in Spirited Away and Your Name. Tomoro isn’t your typical impulsive hero. He’s calm, rational, and tends to analyze situations before jumping into battle. He finds himself joining a bounty hunter team called Golden Dawn, a group that collects bounties across the Digiworld. His Digimon partner is Gekkomon, a wild, unpredictable creature with a huge appetite and chaotic energy, voiced by Megumi Han (Hunter x Hunter, Jujutsu Kaisen).
The team itself brings a unique flavor to the Digimon universe. Kyo Sawashiro (voiced by Yōhei Azakami) leads Golden Dawn with a cool head and a “family-first” approach. He’s partnered with Murasamemon, a canine-like Digimon that evokes WereGarurumon’s legacy, and is voiced by Daiki Hamano. Another team member, Reina Sakuya (voiced by Tomoyo Kurosawa), is the team’s impulsive spark, nicknamed the “loose cannon” for good reason. Her Digimon companion is Pristimon, a raccoon-like creature that’s been with her since childhood. Rounding out the team is 10-year-old tech whiz Makoto Kuonji (voiced by Arisa Sekine), whose Digimon, Chiropmon, is bat-like and visually resembles a dark counterpart to Angemon. With its gothic design, it is quite possible because of the fans' thinking, that Chiropmon could get forms which are like Devimon or Myotismon.
As the official synopsis states, Digimon Beatbreak traces a dystopian planet that is powered by human feelings. In this place, the very nature of human feelings produces a power source for the digital world called the e-Pulse. This input is dwelled by a spacecraft, the AI-support device named “Sapotama.” However, from the interior of this magic new technology, Digimon still are there, and they are hungry for the e-Pulse to transform into different forms. Tomoro’s life takes a new path forever after Gekkomon, that is coming from his Sapotama unexpectedly, is pulling him into a fight, which no longer has clear distinctions between the two worlds the digital and the emotional.
Besides, this new series will be about feelings and it will be a deeper dive into it, compared to the old Digimon series, therefore, it will be of great interest to fans, who have been fans of this franchise from the youth. The trailer and teaser visuals at the release of DIGIMON CON 2025 undoubtedly show that Beatbreak is more focused on a sci-fi dystopia aspect than the previous episodes, so it gives quite a similar vibe to Ghost Game, but with even more emotional and philosophical issues involved.
No word yet on an international simulcast or Western release platform. Nonetheless, it is very likely that Digimon Beatbreak will also be available on platforms such as Crunchyroll, which have already aired Digimon Ghost Game and Digimon Adventure (2020). The companies behind this new project - Toei and Bandai - are definitely highlighting it as a flagship title not only due to its vibrant new world of emotions but also being the 25th anniversary of the Digimon anime series.
Digimon Beatbreak, with the more adult voice, the latest technology in the animation field, and the new world full of the power of feelings, might be the most daring journey of the franchise so far.
