Jenna Ortega and Taylor Russell Star in White Female Single Remake

Jenna Ortega and Taylor Russell Star in White Female Single Remake

Info in Movie News | Jenna Ortega continues to strengthen her position in Hollywood. After achieving huge success with Wednesday, the talented young actress is reportedly in negotiations to star in a remake of the psychological thriller, Single White Female. Not alone, Ortega will be acting alongside Taylor Russell, an actress whose star is also on the rise thanks to her roles in Bones and All and Escape Room.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the original film, released in 1992, told a suspenseful story about a woman who starts to have a nightmare after bringing a new roommate home. The city of New York is a prime location for the movie, where the main theme is the dark side of addiction and the exploration of self. The upcoming re-make, now scheduled to be Sony Pictures's production, seeks to re-write the unknown story by taking a brand new outlook that is about the new days.

The Right Remake for the Age of Social Media

The world has significantly been altered since the first release of Single White Female. If previously, the threat could come from a stranger living under the same roof, now obsession and manipulation are more prevalent via social media. With Ortega and Russell in leading roles, this remake has the potential to tackle issues such as toxic relationships, digital stalking and the double identities that are more common in the internet age.

Apart from this project, Ortega is still busy with the second season of Wednesday and the A24 movie Death of a Unicorn, while Russell continues to make a name for herself in the industry with ambitious projects such as Hope.  Despite their successful track records in the horror and thriller genres, their union in the picture will certainly lead to a harrowing and deep psychological experience.

The project has not been officially scheduled and there is no information yet about the release date, but it has already drawn attention from numerous fans of classic thrillers. Will the new version of Single White Female be able to replicate or even outdo its forerunner? We have to see what the future holds first.
