Steven Spielberg's New UFO-Themed Movie Planned for Release in June 2026, but Details Still Under Wraps

Info in Movie News | Steven Spielberg, the legendary filmmaker who is an immense addition to any movie, has announced a significant modification to his forthcoming project's release date. The long-anticipated movie initially scheduled for release on May 15, 2026, is postponed to a later date, Friday, June 12, of the same year. This change means that Spielberg's movie will now occupy the slot that was previously meant for  the Oscar-winning Daniels’ next untitled picture.

About Daniels' movie, Deadline informed in Monday, February 18, 2025, a developing project of the dynamic writing/directing team, Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, is still underway. Though it requires more time for completion, it is a highly awaited sequel post their Oscar-winning martial arts fantasy movie,Everything Everywhere All at Once. The movie earned them recognition and more than $143 million worldwide, reviving the post-pandemic arthouse cinemas.

Back in Steven Spielberg movie, its plot details still under wraps, but the movie rumored to be UFO-themed, now holds a favorable position in the 2026 film calendar. The movie will share the weekend with the re-release of Scary Movie on June 12, following Amazon MGM Studios’ Masters of the Universe and preceding Disney/Pixar's Toy Story 5, which will premiere a week earlier. That means Spielberg’s movie won’t have to contend with as much competitive clutter at the box office. The movie, written by David Koepp and directed by Spielberg, had been scheduled to be sandwiched between Avengers: Doomsday two weekends earlier, and a Star Wars movie focused on The Mandalorian and Grogu a week later.

The star-studded cast of Spielberg's latest movie is all set to draw massive crowds to the theaters. The cast comprises Emmy and Golden Globe winner Josh O'Connor known for The Crown, SAG award winner and Oscar nominee Emily Blunt, renowned for her roles in Oppenheimer and A Quiet Place, and; twice Oscar-nominated Colman Domingo. Joining them are Oscar-winning Colin Firth, memorable for his roles in The King's Speech and Kingsman franchise, and Eve Hewson seen in Bad Sisters and The Perfect Couple. The movie is being produced by Kristie Macosko Krieger for Amblin Entertainment.
