Info in Movie News | Experienced Lucasfilm executive, Rayne Roberts, has been chosen to serve as Senior Vice President of Production and Development at Searchlight Pictures. In her new role with this specialty label, Roberts will be reporting to co-head of production and development, DanTram Nguyen.

As reported by Variety on Monday, February 18, 2925, as co-chief of Production and Development, Nguyen expressed his excitement about Roberts joining the Searchlight team. Nguyen believes that Roberts' track record will push the team further to achieve great things.

“Her remarkable trackrecord, along with her exceptional storytelling instincts, make her an invaluable addition. We are eager to continue to push boundaries together and bring fresh,and bold projects to the screen,” as stated in Variety.

Her deep experience in the business — especially at Lucasfilm — means she is extremely well qualified for the job. Roberts worked on entries in the “Star Wars” franchise as part of her 12-year career as senior vice president of film production at Lucasfilm including “The Force Awakens,” “Rogue One,” “The Last Jedi” and “Solo.” Her work on the Disney+ series "The Acolyte," in particular, gave her even more experience wrangling production across platforms.

Roberts has an extensive and illustrious career in the entertainment industry before joining Lucasfilm. She’s a former development executive at Gold Circle Films, and associate producer on the award-winning documentary “The Fair Trade,” and story analyst for Alcon Entertainment and The Kennedy/Marshall Company. Her diverse genre and production style background will be a great asset to Searchlight Pictures.

Though her work in film production may be more recognized, Roberts has excellent skill in other visual disciplines. She was a photo editor at Vibe Magazine and Teen People, producing and designing fashion, portrait and documentary photography. Her track record demonstrates she is a versatile creative professional with a rare combination of technical and creative skills.

Only time will tell how Roberts will utilize her experience to advance Searchlight Pictures, but with her track record, we can anticipate seeing exciting and innovative movie projects from this label in the future.

As time goes on, Searchlight Pictures also continuously strives to expand their portfolio with high-quality films. Recently, they released "A Complete Unknown" directed by James Mangold and starring Timothée Chalamet as Bob Dylan, a film which garnered eight Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture. In addition, "A Real Pain" directed by Jesse Eisenberg and starring Eisenberg and Kieran Culkin, successfully received two Oscar nominations. 

With Roberts on their team, Searchlight Pictures is sure to continue delivering high-quality, heartfelt films that garner recognition for their achievements.
