However, the goth queen of gloom is not satisfied. “I liked it better when I was feared and hated,” she grumbles, while her peers gather around her, begging for autographs. But there’s no time for admiration, or personal space. Within minutes of the first episode, we’re introduced to a fresh villain, the Kansas City Scalper. Aaron Guzikowski to Write Death Stranding Animated Movie for Kojima

Aaron Guzikowski to Write Death Stranding Animated Movie for Kojima

Info in Movie News | The Death Stranding universe just keeps growing, and now it’s heading into animation. Kojima Productions and Line Mileage have announced an adult animated feature movie set in the strange, atmospheric world of Hideo Kojima’s acclaimed video game. Most excitingly, the guy responsible for Raised by Wolves and Prisoners, Aaron Guzikowski, is behind the new one.

According to Animation Magazine, Guzikowski will develop a new narrative for the movie to go along with the new characters and places the director of this gaming series has not shown in his post-apocalyptic world. The nature of his deeply emotional and intellectually challenging works indicates that the dark and mysterious new world will definitely need him to be there, because, in that place, death, life, and love always come together. “It’s so creatively freeing, so beautifully dark and yet hopeful,” Guzikowski said. “To finally get to play in this space is a dream come true.”

Although fans of the game will definitely notice the dark, atmospheric world populated by supernatural creatures and a landscape of barren beauty, this animated movie is going to be more of a continuation rather than the same story. It will actually explore new stories, probably featuring new protagonists and plotlines that delve deeper into the emotional range of the Death Stranding universe. This is a big step for the series as it moves beyond the gaming world and is more fully immersed in multimedia storytelling.

The first version of the game, Norman Reedus' character Sam Porter Bridges, was about a man whose job was to deliver parcels to distant places after America had been devastated by a series of mysterious explosions and an unknown phenomenon referred to as the Death Stranding. With the fate of humanity hanging by a thread, Sam must cross hostile terrain to reconnect the remnants of civilization. The game featured performances from Mads Mikkelsen, Léa Seydoux, and Guillermo Del Toro, and it’s now sold over 20 million copies worldwide.

In addition to the new animated movie, Kojima Productions is also working on a Death Stranding anime series, plus a live-action movie directed by A Quiet Place: Day One moviemaker, Michael Sarnoski. Kojima has said that the live-action adaptation won’t just follow the game’s plot but will instead reimagine the material in a way that speaks the language of cinema. His goal, something worthy of film festivals like Cannes and Venice.

It’s evident that Kojima isn’t simply making a game, he’s also creating a full range of media cross-media. The fact that Guzikowski is part of the team means that the animated movie being produced next has the possibility of being something beyond just inexplicable issues. It might even turn out to be the real discharge of the topics and atmosphere which gave the original game so much popularity among the players.

Although the release date of the animated film has not been determined yet, the Death Stranding 2 game, which is launching soon, and an anime that is being planned, make this universe still more vibrant and mysterious than ever.
