With its mix of workplace drama and heartfelt friendship, the movie became a box office success and a fan favorite around the world.
According to Soompi, Han So Hee has been offered the lead role in the Korean adaptation. Her agency, 9ato Entertainment, confirmed the offer but added that nothing has been decided yet. “The Intern is one of the projects that has been proposed to her,” they said carefully.
In the Hollywood version, Anne Hathaway’s character, Jules Ostin, runs a growing fashion startup when she’s unexpectedly paired with Ben Whittaker, a retired executive looking for new purpose in life. Their friendship becomes the emotional core of the story. If Han So Hee takes the part, she’s expected to step into the Korean version of Jules, a powerful but emotionally complex leader navigating her career and personal life.
Also previously linked to the remake is veteran actor Choi Min Sik, best known for Oldboy, I Saw the Devil, and The Admiral: Roaring Currents. Reports in 2024 suggested he was being considered for the Korean counterpart of Robert De Niro’s role, although no formal casting has been announced.
This remake of The Intern could be a turning point in Han So Hee’s film career. She has primarily stood out for the characters in the thriller and romance genre. Apart from this, she hasn't done the characters which would give her the chance to express herself as an artist but to a larger audience. Of course, if it's bilateral, it would be a third film to her, after she had already played as Heavy Snow and Project Y.
