Spider-Noir Series Starring Nicolas Cage Coming to Prime Video in 2026

Spider-Noir Series Starring Nicolas Cage Coming to Prime Video in 2026

Info in Movie News | Not all Spider-Men wear bright spandex or swing through neon skylines. Some, like Spider-Noir, wear trench coats, walk dark alleys, and punch crime with a jazz soundtrack playing in the background. Marvel fans are in for something very different as Spider-Noir, a new live-action series starring Nicolas Cage, is heading to Prime Video in 2026.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Spider-Noir is a fresh chapter in the expanding Spider-Verse. The series follows an older, world-weary private investigator in 1930s New York, played by Cage, reprising his role from Into the Spider-Verse, but this time in live-action. Described as Marvel's noir detective story, the show blends superhero elements with mystery and old-school crime drama.

Amazon MGM Studios confirmed that the show will debut in 2026, first airing on MGM+ in the US before launching globally on Prime Video. In their official statement, they teased, “Coming in 2026, the new live-action expansion of the Spider-Verse will center on Cage's aging PI in 1930s New York.”

The series will span eight episodes and offer two viewing styles, color and black and white, to highlight the noir theme. Helmed by Harry Bradbeer, the director behind Fleabag and Killing Eve, the show aims to fully capture the vintage texture of pre-war New York, from shadowy alleyways to smoky jazz clubs.

What sets Spider-Noir apart from most Marvel entries is its character focus. Cage has the character of a person that has gone through trauma, trying to make sense of a city where heroes are not trusted. He is not responsible for saving the multiverse, he is just trying to go through it. The noir tone offers an opportunity for a more profound narrative, emotional harshness, and silence that is full of tension, which Cage is really good at.

Nicolas Cage has his Marvel return, and it’s not the first time. Prior to he got the role of Spider-Noir, he was cast as Johnny Blaze in Ghost Rider (2007) and Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance (2011). Although those films were not universally liked, Cage's flamboyant and passionate act was deeply carved in the memory of the audience. As of now, almost twenty years later, he has re-joined the Marvel family, but now in a different world, which is one that is darker, quieter, and more stylishly strange.

The cast lineup adds further weight. Brendan Gleeson joins as the main villain, while Lamorne Morris plays a younger version of Robbie Robertson, the Daily Bugle reporter.   Besides Li Jun Li, Abraham Popoola, Jack Huston, and Karen Rodriguez will also be acting in this production, but their characters are still a secret.

Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot are the ones behind the series, with showrunners being also those. The series is in the hands of Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Amy Pascal, who were the ones behind the success of the Spider-Verse animated films. Lord Miller Productions, Pascal Pictures, and Amazon MGM Studios are making the project together with Sony Pictures Television.

Is Spider-Noir an MCU movie?

Even though he has his roots in a Marvel world, Spider-Noir is totally separate from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Instead, it stands alone as a spin-off from Sony’s Spider-Verse projects. The show takes place in an alternate timeline within the multiverse and focuses entirely on its own world. So, don’t expect cameos from Tom Holland’s Spider-Man, x-men, Thunderbolt or Avengers references. This is a different flavor of Marvel storytelling, darker, more contained, and creatively independent from the MCU continuity.

Spider-Noir is not your typical Marvel show. There is no technology of instant transportation, no flying bodies in armor, nor any visitors from other planets being hostile to people. In contrast, it reflects a different, more dramatic and fashionable aspect of the superhero genre, that is the one where feeling, riddle, and atmosphere also play an important role next to the action.

If you want to see Marvel being daring and unpredictable, save the date. Nicolas Cage is about to swing into the shadows in 2026.
