Alan Ritchson to Lead Action Film Fortune from Reacher to Big Screen Star

Alan Ritchson to Lead Action Film Fortune from Reacher to Big Screen Star

Info in Movie News | Alan Ritchson is making serious waves in Hollywood, and not just on the small screen. The towering action star who reached fame through the titular role in Prime Video’s most watched TV show, Reacher, is now lined up for a new action-adventure movie named Fortune. The upcoming flick has Jerry Bruckheimer on the line as the producer, the famous mind who created Pirates of the Caribbean, National Treasure, and Top Gun: Maverick.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sir Lev David Cook has won a duel of bids and is in the process of sealing the agreement with Skydance to get Fortune’s rights. The said movie, to be played by Ritchson himself, is an adaptation of a short story by Neil Widener and Gavin James, who are also in charge of the screenplay. Widener and James recently hit box office gold with A Minecraft Movie, which has grossed over $930 million worldwide.

The storyline for the movie Fortune is kept secret, but insiders have characterized it as an exciting fusion of Memento and Raiders of the Lost Ark. This exciting blend indicates a movie full of action, centered around memory loss and a high-stakes treasure hunt across the globe. While no director has been announced yet, with Bruckheimer producing and Ritchson front and center, the project is already gaining strong industry buzz.

This won’t be Ritchson’s first collaboration with Bruckheimer. The two previously worked together on The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, the 2024 Guy Ritchie-directed World War II action movie where Ritchson was part of an ensemble cast. But with Fortune, he steps fully into the spotlight, leading a movie that could solidify his standing as a go-to name for theatrical action heroes.

Ritchson’s rise in recent years has been nothing short of impressive. His role as Jack Reacher has transformed him into a household name, with the series quickly becoming one of Prime Video’s most-watched originals. Three seasons have already aired, and a fourth is in development. A spin-off centered around fan-favorite character Frances Neagley is also on the way, with Ritchson set to appear as a guest star.

Beyond television, Ritchson has a busy movie slate ahead. He’s set to appear in The Man With the Bag, a Christmas action movie featuring Arnold Schwarzenegger as Santa Claus. Other upcoming projects include the action-comedy Playdate with Kevin James, the sci-fi thriller War Machine with Dennis Quaid, and the romantic drama Counting Miracles, based on the novel by Nicholas Sparks. He’ll also star in Runner, a thriller with Owen Wilson, and Motor City, an action movie with Shailene Woodley.

As for Jerry Bruckheimer, he continues to develop major tentpole movies across studios. His upcoming F1 movie with Brad Pitt and director Joseph Kosinski is expected to be one of the biggest releases of the summer. He’s also working on sequels for Pirates of the Caribbean, National Treasure, Bad Boys, and Top Gun.

With all the right ingredients, star power, blockbuster producers, and seasoned writers, Fortune is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated action movies in development.
