The New York Times released the news to the public first and based their report about Mercedes Kilmer, his daughter, who said that pneumonia was the cause. Kilmer was once found out with throat cancer, starting in 2015, but reported cancer-free in 2017.
Val Edward Kilmer, was in fact born in Los Angeles on December 31, 1959. The information came from a report by Collider, he made his first steps in showbiz in the early 1980s, but it was the part of Iceman in Top Gun (1986) that made him famous. The movie turned out to be a massive hit in the 1980s, bringing in $357 million on a $15 million budget.
