Wicked: For Good Unveils First Poster, Teasing an Emotional Showdown

Info in Movie News | Surprising news for all Wicked fans out there! At CinemaCon 2025, Universal Pictures showcased the first movie poster of Wicked: For Good, the next film that everyone is expecting, and there is a little more to come. The most inspiring thing we saw in the poster is probably that Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo) and Glinda (Ariana Grande) have encountered a rougher patch in their relationship than ever.

The stunning poster shows the two witches standing on opposite cliffs, separated by the famous yellow brick road leading to Emerald City. With Elphaba dressed in a long, dark coat and her signature pointed hat, surrounded by eerie green foliage, she looks more powerful than ever. Meanwhile, in the periwinkle-blue dress, Glinda personifies the classic Wizard of Oz look but with a much more modern Broadway feel—that is a great twist, isn't it? The catchphrase, "You will be changed," is from the duet For Good and is straightly related to one of the songs in Wicked that is the epitome of the musical. Should the reaction of the audience after seeing this poster be the same as ours, then it will absolutely be a magical sequel.

A Worthy Follow-Up to a Musical Phenomenon

According to Collider, Wicked: Part One was one of 2024’s biggest surprises, exceeding expectations with its powerful storytelling, breathtaking performances, and show-stopping musical numbers. The film managed to get the audience emotionally involved, and at the same time it carried a far-reaching idea about power, control and the consequences of taking a stand for the things one believes in.

Critic Jeff Ewing lauded the film in his review and described it as "a magical musical outing." Moreover, he called Ariana Grande's portrayal of Glinda as "hilariously charming yet deeply layered," while he said that Cynthia Erivo's Elphaba was simply "breathtakingly powerful." Their renditions of the unforgettable songs such as Defying Gravity were really impressive and the film became one of the most spectacular Broadway-to-Hollywood adaptations of our days.

Taking the Wicked: For Good project, the director Jon M. Chu is going to expand on the story even further. It is also expected that the sequel will focus on a more personal and emotional level of the characters and at the same time will depict Oz as a place in serious unrest with Elphaba and Glinda drastically taking different sides. With the first film leaving off at such a thrilling note, Jon M. Chu is expected to blow the audience away with the second half of the story.

What to Expect from Wicked: For Good

This next chapter is anticipated to embrace the most varied and numerous parts from The Wizard of Oz to date and by doing so to close the gap between Wicked and the black-and-white masterpiece of 1939. People are very much looking forward to witnessing the progress of the story, especially as the relationship between the two witches becomes much more intricate.

Part 2 is going to be eye candy too, just as much as the first, with big sceneries, detailed dresses, and fascinating dancing movements. Since Part One did so great, the bar is set high for Wicked: For Good.

Fans' patience would be tested, as Wicked: For Good debuted on November 21, 2025, leaving them in anticipation to get to know how this marvelous story ends. Nevertheless, if the first film turned out to be really good, Wicked will be.
