Info in Movie News | Wednesday Addams is back at Nevermore Academy, and no, she’s not thrilled about it. With new enemies lurking, a stalker sending cryptic threats, and her name now plastered all over campus like some reluctant rockstar, Wednesday’s sophomore year is shaping up to be even stranger than the last. According to The Guardian, Season 2 opens with a flash of chaos. After saving Nevermore from the undead pilgrim Joseph Crackstone in Season 1, Wednesday has earned a cult-like following among her peers. However, the goth queen of gloom is rather unimpressed. However, the goth queen of gloom is not satisfied. “I liked it better when I was feared and hated,” she grumbles, while her peers gather around her, begging for autographs. But there’s no time for admiration, or personal space. Within minutes of the first episode, we’re introduced to a fresh villain, the Kansas City Scalper. He’s a doll-collecting, serial-killing dog groomer in a velour tracksuit played with greasy ...

Gizmo Returns in Gremlins: The Wild Batch Part 2, Streaming April 10

Info in Movie News | Gizmo and the gang are back, and they're heading into wilder times! Max is airing the new season of Gremlins: The Wild Batch on Thursday, April 10, with an amazing lineup of 5 fresh episodes that will give us a closer look at the characters in a world full of legends, ghosts, and... apples? Yup, Part 2 of Season 2 continues the epic quest of Sam, Elle, and Chang, who are racing against time on a magical rescue mission. And if you thought they were just going to be fighting off bad gremlins, think again, they’re about to meet some of America’s most iconic ghosts!

According to Collider, one upcoming episode introduces legendary figures Johnny Appleseed and Marshal Bass Reeves, voiced by Justified’s Timothy Olyphant and The Thing’s Keith David. These ghostly guides show up to help the team reach a mystical destination called Purple Mountains Majesty, a place you can only get to by hopping on a ghost train (yep, a literal train between worlds).

In the exclusive sneak peek, Johnny Appleseed makes a surprise entrance (complete with jump scare vibes) and returns Gizmo’s tiny sheriff hat before asking where they’re headed. While Chang (voiced by Simu Liu) tries to cover up their wild story, Sam (Izaac Wang) just spills the whole truth, they’re trying to save Elle’s mom (Gabrielle Nevaeh Green), who’s at risk of turning into a permanent water spirit under the god Kung Kung. Lucky for them, Bass Reeves, ghost legend of the Old West, shows up to vouch for the gang so they can enter the mythical town.

The episode, titled Never Try the Cider, takes the crew to Big Rock Candy Mountain, a super cheerful (and super tempting) western town. But underneath all the fun and color, danger is lurking, Gizmo starts feeling the pull to unleash his dark side as an Evil Mogwai.

If you haven’t caught up on Part 1 or even Season 1, no worries, this show’s perfect for a weekend binge. Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai season 1 was released in May 2023, and it returned the audience to 1920s Shanghai where they got to learn about the story of Gizmo and a young Sam Wing.

The Hollywood Reporter states that the initial run was critically acclaimed. This media also shared that the first season of Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai that was aired in May 2023 was well-received because of its unique visuals and brilliant way of incorporating Chinese mythology into the Gremlins universe making it look so natural.

Season 2 builds on that foundation but kicks things into high gear, taking the characters across realms in a much bigger adventure. Part 1 featured a massive showdown in Chinatown and set the stage for Elle’s rescue mission, the main storyline for Part 2.

And it’s not just Olyphant and David stealing the spotlight this time. The new season brings in a star-studded lineup of guest voices including Will Forte, Jimmy O. Yang, Kelly Hu, Ronny Chieng, and even John Glover from Gremlins 2: The New Batch. They join returning cast members like Ming-Na Wen, James Hong, BD Wong, and George Takei. Series creator Tze Chun is still running the show as executive producer, keeping the magic and mayhem alive with a fresh cultural twist.

Even though The Wild Batch leans more into fun than horror, critics are loving it. Season 2 holds a perfect 100% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes! And as Collider puts it, The Wild Batch is made for kids, but it’s still a blast for adults, as long as you’re not too hung up on the old-school vibes.

All five episodes of Gremlins: The Wild Batch Part 2 drop April 10 on Max, so grab your popcorn, and remember, don’t feed Gizmo after midnight!
