Info in Movie News | After the successful completion of its first season in June 2025, My Hero Academia: Vigilantes has been confirmed to be coming back for a second season in 2026. The spinoff series is a down-to-earth, darker side of hero society that deals with the people who are not part of the pro hero system. With deeper character arcs and real street-level stakes, Vigilantes has found its niche—and now fans have plenty to look forward to.
According to ScreenRant, the second season of Vigilantes will adapt the “Osaka Incident” arc, a thrilling chapter in Koichi Haimawari’s vigilante journey. So this story is about Koichi and Kazuho, (nicknamed Pop Step) who go to Osaka for an idol festival. However, what was supposed to be a simple visit to Osaka turned out to be a nightmare after they became embroiled in a hazardous plot, which involved Trigger, that was an illicit drug that enhanced the Quirks capabilities tenfold and at the same time, it depraved the users of their sanity.
The arc is a major sign of the series' progress and the storyline being developed from street skirmishes to a city-wide disaster. The pro heroes are dealing with red tape and bureaucracy, while Koichi and his small vigilante crew are at it again, taking matters into their own hands. The viewers will witness a more experienced Koichi—still underpowered, but more confident and tactical—as he deals with threats much beyond his comfort zone.
The antagonist in this storyline is The Scarred Man, a violent and mysterious individual who is considered as the main reason for the Trigger drug’s carrying setting down in Osaka. He’s a totally different kind of baddie from those we have seen before—his motives go deep and he is into systemic flaws in the hero society, therefore, the line between justice and vengeance gets blurred. The conflict becomes more psychological with his presence and each character’s beliefs and resolve are challenged.
Knuckleduster, Koichi’s secretive mentor, reappears in the story as his past is uncovered showing how he is connected to the villain world. Pop Step is no longer just the sidekick or the idol figure, as she takes a more active role in the fight. The depth of their friendship will be tested as they plunge into the battle which can consume the whole city.
Toho Animation has released key visual art confirming that production is underway. Studio BONES will continue to lead animation duties, with Kenichi Suzuki returning as director. Yosuke Kuroda is once again handling series composition, while character designs are by Takahiko Yoshida. Music for anime has been written by Yuki Hayashi, Shogo Yamashiro, and Yuki Furuhashi.
The producers did not specify the release time to still uncertain, the anime is supposed to be launched in April 2026, aligning with the spring schedule of the first season. The number of episodes has probably stayed at 13, which is the same format as the initial season. Crunchyroll declared that they will provide the new season globally, apart from Asia, via streaming.
Keeping the same storyline, character development, and exploration of moral issues while still being dark and gritty, Vigilantes 2 is the season of the year for those fans who desire something beyond the usual hero action. Moreover, the Osaka arc has in store not only thrilling fight scenes but also character development and surprises, thus making the My Hero Academia universe even bigger.
