Hurry Up Tomorrow Stars Jenna Ortega in The Weeknd’s Surreal Final Act

Featuring standout performances from Wednesday star Jenna Ortega and Oscar nominee Barry Keoghan, the film blends haunting visuals with deeply personal themes that reflect the end of an era for the multi-award-winning artist.

According to Collider, Hurry Up Tomorrow follows a fictionalized version of The Weeknd as he navigates the mental and emotional breakdown of a global superstar. Suffering from severe insomnia, his character begins to experience vivid, dreamlike episodes where he meets a mysterious woman played by Ortega. She guides him through a bizarre escapade of weird and disturbing mental images that raise questions about success, personality, and the end of life.

Ortega plays a very significant role in the movie. Beside the fact that she is the one ho direct us through such incredible images, she might also be the singer’s mental problem. The spectators have to understand her character, which goes from realistic to non real multiple times during the story. For people who are used to the role of Wednesday Addams, her performance in the movie as Ortega will be a quite surprising and abstract to more extent.  

A story was written by Tesfaye, director Trey Edward Shults, and also his longtime collaborator Reza Fahim, that was inspired by real-life situations, such as his live show in 2022 where Tesfaye had a problem with his vocal cord.
