After saving Nevermore from the undead pilgrim Joseph Crackstone in Season 1, Wednesday has earned a cult-like following among her peers. However, the goth queen of gloom is rather unimpressed. However, the goth queen of gloom is not satisfied. “I liked it better when I was feared and hated,” she grumbles, while her peers gather around her, begging for autographs. But there’s no time for admiration, or personal space. Within minutes of the first episode, we’re introduced to a fresh villain, the Kansas City Scalper. Henry Cavill Wraps Voltron Live-Action Movie, Leads 80s Robot Reboot

Info in Movie News | Henry Cavill is back in action, this time trading his cape for a pilot suit in Voltron, the live-action adaptation of the iconic 80s animated series. Following his role in The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare with director Guy Ritchie, Cavill has now wrapped movie production for this highly anticipated project. The official Voltron Instagram account confirmed the news, signaling a major step forward for the Amazon MGM production.

Directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber, who co-wrote the script with Ellen Shanman, the movie also stars Sterling K. Brown, Alba Baptista, Nathan Jones, and John Kim. Interestingly, despite its big-name cast and franchise legacy, Voltron will skip a theatrical release and debut exclusively on Prime Video. No release date has been set, but 2026 is currently the most likely target.

According to Collider, Cavill will take on the lead role as the commander of the Voltron Force, the team of five lion-piloting heroes who unite to form a massive robot warrior.   The details of the plot are not available for disclosure, but sources indicate there will be a more grown-up and serious vibe in the new story as compared to the original. The person that Cavill is going to portray will be a modern-day updated version of Keith, the pilot of the Black Lion and team leader, though staying true to the character and at the same time being connected to the audience of today.

Voltron: Defender of the Universe was first aired back in 1984 and it was immediately a big thing that the people talked about. A slight change in the storyline, by Netflix's with Voltron: Legendary Defender in 2016, re-introduced the stories of the fantastic giant robot to another time period. And now this live-action adaptation is set to revisit the tale of Voltron in a more elegant and serious manner but also be a good movie.

Since stepping away from his role as Superman in the DCEU, Cavill has lined up several high-profile projects. He’s set to star in a Highlander reboot directed by John Wick’s Chad Stahelski, which is scheduled to begin production this September for a 2027 release. He’s also involved in the Warhammer 40,000 adaptation at Amazon, both as star and producer, bringing his passion for the game franchise to the screen.

Cavill will also reunite with Guy Ritchie for another upcoming action movie titled In The Grey, where he stars alongside Jake Gyllenhaal and Eiza González. The movie has already completed production but is still waiting on an official release date.

With Voltron, Cavill isn’t just stepping into another action-heavy role, he’s leading a legacy franchise into a bold new era. Whether you grew up with the original show or discovered it through the Netflix reboot, this new adaptation is shaping up to be a must-watch when it finally hits Prime Video.
