Koi wa Yami: A Gripping Romantic Mystery Drama Premiering in April 2025

Info in Movie News | NTV's new drama titled Koi wa Yami will start airing on 16 April 2025 every Wednesday at 22.00 JST. Emphasizing the ultimate love mystery concept, the drama will take its viewers on a journey through a love story, which, in the dimness, the boundary between trust and suspicion becomes finer and finer.

"Koi wa Yami" (恋は闇) literally means "Love is Darkness" in Japanese. This title reflects the main theme of the drama, in which the love story of the main characters is cast in an atmosphere full of mystery, secrets, and darkness that blurs the lines between trust and suspicion.

According to the official website, the drama brought the skilled actors Shison Jun and Kishi Yukino together as the main characters. Shison will play a character named Shitara Hiroki, a top-notch investigative journalist with a sharp reputation, while Kishi will be Tsutsui Makoto, a show producer who firmly sticks to his principles. However, the love that develops between them instead of taking them to a whirlwind of danger and mystery.

Not only does this drama narrate the romance of two people from different backgrounds, but it also invites the audience to question the reality they hold on to. Combined with the backdrop of a series of the so-called Horus no Me Satsujin Jiken (The Horus Eye Murder Cases) the drama's narration is full of surprises. On every repetitive date — 1 January, 2 February, 3 March, up to 4 April — women's corpses have been found with a distinctive mark: a color mismatching pair of contact lenses in their both eyes.

Amazingly, it is Shitara Hiroki who first came up with the nickname for the case, a fact which started wild speculations. Is he just a talented journalist always one step ahead in breaking the news, or is he the one who is actually more aware than he should be? In the meantime, Makoto who initially was only focused on journalistic truths found himself haunted by a question: Whether the man she loves is actually the serial killer being pursued?

Directed by Naoko Komuro and Yuma Suzuki, Koi wa Yami is a show well prepared to massage the psychological tautness and open the wound of the love dynamics.

The show is directed by Naoko Komuro, and the writing will be done by Mako Watanabe who does not new to this, he was the one who wrote the Koi wa Tsuzuku yo Doko Made mo and Yomei 10-nen. She the new one who joined the team. The new show is Koi wa Yami (Love in Darkness) and it will be a blend of psychological tension and romantic dynamic bonding.

Could Makoto find out the truth before all hell breaks loose? Is Hiroki the person he really is or is he the one she is? Wait and see the answer in Koi wa Yami, only on NTV!
