Detective Conan Hits Netflix, Crunchyroll with New Dub Starting July 3
Info in Movie News | For the very first time, Detective Conan is coming to Netflix in the U.S., and it’s not alone. A carefully selected set of episodes, with a new English dub, is going to be on both Netflix and Crunchyroll on 3rd of July. The selection that is called Conan vs. The Black Organization, gathers main episodes from the anime, thus it is the best choice for the people who are not familiar with the series and those who have been fans for a long time and want to refresh their memory of Conan’s most dangerous battles.
According to Animation Magazine, this is a big movement toward extending one of Japan’s oldest anime franchises in the global. Detective Conan first aired in 1996 and the storyline is about a teenage detective Shinichi Kudo, who was poisoned by an unknown substance and thus turned into a child. To be able to solve cases and find the Black Organization that gave him the poison, he takes the name Conan Edogawa and goes on undercover missions. The series has been on for over 1,000 episodes and 28 movies and has become a cultural icon in Japan and among the anime community worldwide.
The Conan vs. The Black Organization episode set was selected to show the highlights of the most exciting sections of the main antagonist’s car. It’s also the first time many of these episodes will be available in the U.S., especially in English dub format. Crunchyroll will carry both the new dub and the original Japanese audio with English subtitles.
To further celebrate the road to the anime’s 30th anniversary in January 2026, TMS Entertainment is launching a special Detective Conan: Cinema Saturdays campaign on YouTube. Beginning July 12, the official Anime! on TMS channel will stream one Conan movie each Saturday at 7 p.m. PT, 10 p.m. ET. Each movie will premiere as a watch party event, then remain available for seven days before being replaced with the next installment.
The first three titles scheduled for release are:
July 12: Detective Conan: The Darkest Nightmare
July 19: Detective Conan: Zero the Enforcer
July 26: Detective Conan: Countdown to Heaven
These weekly releases are definitely a milestone, it is the first time that Detective Conan movies are going to be accessible on YouTube for free in English and some of them will be at the same time the first to get their North American release.
Furthermore, Conan: Black Iron Submarine, the record-breaking movie of the franchise, is set to have its U.S. debut on July 5 at Anime Expo. The screening happens at 6 p.m. in the JW Marriott Diamond Ballroom. Besides, those who join the trivia game have a chance to win exclusive Conan merch.
Detective Conan, after debuting as a manga by Gosho Aoyama in Weekly Shonen Sunday in 1994, has sold more than 270 million copies globally. The anime has raked in over $1 billion in global box office revenue running through its 28 movies and the newest release, One Eyed Flashback (2025), recording the third movie in a row to break 10 billion yen in Japan.
With this renewed push into major streaming platforms, and a full lineup of fan-focused events, Detective Conan is proving that its mysteries, and its legacy, are far from over.
