Boyhood Season 2 Confirmed, Set in Seaside School With All-New Cast

Boyhood Season 2 Confirmed, Set in Seaside School With All-New Cast

Info in Movie News | Boyhood is coming back for its second season after the first season was very successful! The news is already circulating among K-drama fans who haven't even gotten over Jang Byeong-tae, the character that Im Si-wan played.

According to Soompi, Coupang Play announced via their social media that they are going to make a second season of Boyhood. The show was started in 2023 and it was a blockbuster among the fans because of its crazy humor, the characters hating human issues and the setting from the year 1980. It also went on to win some of the most prestigious awards like the Blue Dragon Series Award for Best Actor that Im Si-wan got for the outstanding performance.

Season One was set in a school that mainly focuses on agriculture in Chungcheong Province. The storyline was about Jang Byeong-tae , an average student who accidentally becomes a legend when people mistake him for the fighter who is known as the “White Tiger.” The story of his transformation from a bullied teen into a misunderstood hero was a very touching, funny coming-of-age tale.

But in Season 2, things will take a fresh turn. The story will shift to a completely different setting, a high school specializing in fisheries, located near the coast. While Im Si-wan won’t return this time, the series will introduce a new lineup of characters, keeping the format fresh, while preserving the spirit of youth and misadventure that defined the original.

Director Lee Myung-woo who is also the first season team led back to head the second chapter. He said that the objective of Season 2 is to study the more vivid and three-dimensional characters in the setting of an unusual school by the sea. He pledges a combination of familiar emotions with the new stories, explaining, “We have set out to depict the episodes of childhood that both new and old are interesting and touching.”

There have been no casting details made public so far, nevertheless, the production is still anticipated to start shooting during the first six months of 2026. The creative team is probably still sticking to their original secret plan of making a movie that will touch the audience just as much, or even more, now that they have had additional time to further the script and create the new world.

So even if it takes some time for Boyhood Season 2 to be available for watching, the desire for it is already getting stronger. A whole new background, new actors, and a director who was proved have come back, develop this next part to be something great. Don't miss out, because youth is about to hit the waves.
