Info in Movie News | Wednesday Addams is back at Nevermore Academy, and no, she’s not thrilled about it. With new enemies lurking, a stalker sending cryptic threats, and her name now plastered all over campus like some reluctant rockstar, Wednesday’s sophomore year is shaping up to be even stranger than the last. According to The Guardian, Season 2 opens with a flash of chaos. After saving Nevermore from the undead pilgrim Joseph Crackstone in Season 1, Wednesday has earned a cult-like following among her peers. However, the goth queen of gloom is rather unimpressed. However, the goth queen of gloom is not satisfied. “I liked it better when I was feared and hated,” she grumbles, while her peers gather around her, begging for autographs. But there’s no time for admiration, or personal space. Within minutes of the first episode, we’re introduced to a fresh villain, the Kansas City Scalper. He’s a doll-collecting, serial-killing dog groomer in a velour tracksuit played with greasy ...

Chris Hemsworth to Star in Subversion, Submarine Thriller, Before Avengers Doomsday

Chris Hemsworth to Star in Subversion, Submarine Thriller, Before Avengers Doomsday

Info in Movie News | Chris Hemsworth is taking a sharp turn from gods and galaxies to something far more grounded, but no less intense. Before he suits up again as Thor in Avengers: Doomsday, the Australian actor is heading deep beneath the ocean in an upcoming action-thriller titled Subversion. This new movie, greenlit by Amazon MGM, is expected to begin producting this fall in Australia.

According to Collider, Subversion is being described as a “Die Hard on a submarine” scenario. It will be directed by Patrick Vollrath, who previously helmed the claustrophobic airline thriller 7500 starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt. This time, Vollrath is moving from a cockpit to the tight corridors of a submarine, and with Hemsworth leading the charge, fans can expect plenty of high-stakes action.

The story follows a once-promising Navy commander who finds himself forced to take on a dangerous mission. Blackmailed by a powerful cartel-like group, he’s ordered to pilot a submarine packed with illegal cargo across international waters. But the mission quickly spirals into a deadly game of cat and mouse, with threats looming not just from the outside, but from within the vessel as well. With blockades ahead and hidden enemies around him, he’ll need more than military training to survive.

The screenplay comes from Andrew Ferguson, a writer known for his work frequently landing on the prestigious Black List. His other project, Blood Rush, is also in the works at Amazon. With Ferguson’s tense writing, Vollrath’s tight direction, and Hemsworth’s physical presence, Subversion has all the right pieces for an edge-of-your-seat thriller.

Outside of this project, Hemsworth’s plate is full. He was most recently seen as the wild villain Dementus in Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, a spin-off of the Mad Max universe. He's also featured in a Crime 101 thriller, which is a new but familiar project as it is a Mark Ruffalo who is his MCU co-star that he reunites with. With such a cast, it can be said that the movie is a star-studded one, with Barry Keoghan, Halle Berry, and Monica Barbaro. The movie has already been passed through production and is in post-production.

But that's not all yet. Hemsworth is set to return as black-ops mercenary Tyler Rake in Extraction 3, a Netflix sequel that continues his collaboration with director Sam Hargrave. He’s also reportedly been cast as Prince Charming in a new Disney movie directed by Paul King, known for Paddington.

But for fans of the MCU, the big question remains, what’s next for Thor? Hemsworth is the only original Avenger confirmed so far for Avengers: Doomsday. Robert Downey Jr. is also anticipated to participate, however, this time not in the capacity of Iron Man. He may possibly play the character of the infamous arch-villain Doctor Doom. Last seen mentoring his daughter at the end of Thor: Love and Thunder, Thor’s next chapter is still under wraps.

While Marvel fans wait for that return, Subversion promises a very different kind of thrill. With tight spaces, rising tension, and moral gray zones, Hemsworth is clearly not afraid to dive into uncharted waters, literally and figuratively.
