Info in Movie News | Wednesday Addams is back at Nevermore Academy, and no, she’s not thrilled about it. With new enemies lurking, a stalker sending cryptic threats, and her name now plastered all over campus like some reluctant rockstar, Wednesday’s sophomore year is shaping up to be even stranger than the last. According to The Guardian, Season 2 opens with a flash of chaos. After saving Nevermore from the undead pilgrim Joseph Crackstone in Season 1, Wednesday has earned a cult-like following among her peers. However, the goth queen of gloom is rather unimpressed. However, the goth queen of gloom is not satisfied. “I liked it better when I was feared and hated,” she grumbles, while her peers gather around her, begging for autographs. But there’s no time for admiration, or personal space. Within minutes of the first episode, we’re introduced to a fresh villain, the Kansas City Scalper. He’s a doll-collecting, serial-killing dog groomer in a velour tracksuit played with greasy ...

The Chosen Nears $100M Box Office With Season 5's Theatrical Run

Info in Movie News | While most people are still glued to the latest streaming hits or superhero reboots, The Chosen is pulling off something that’s lowkey impressive — it’s turning a crowdfunded faith-based series into a legit box office success story.

The series just dropped Season 5 Part 2 in theaters this week, riding high after the first batch of episodes pulled in over $15 million in its debut week. That kind of number might not sound massive compared to a Marvel movie, but for a TV show that started on a shoestring budget, it's remarkable. And the momentum isn’t slowing down.

According to Collider, Part 2 has already opened strong, and just like Part 1, it holds a 99% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes — proof that fans are loving it. And they’re not casual viewers either. The Chosen has built a loyal fanbase that shows up every time, whether it’s on the app, YouTube, or the big screen.

What makes The Chosen different is the way it releases content. Instead of dropping new episodes on streaming platforms right away, the show premieres them in theaters as event-style experiences. It’s a bold move for a series, but one that’s paying off big-time. Since starting its theatrical journey in 2021 with Christmas with The Chosen: The Messengers (which earned $13 million), the show has only grown in reach and revenue.

Season 3 grossed around $20 million, and Season 4 brought in another $30 million across its installments. With Season 5 already halfway to that number, The Chosen is about to cross the $100 million milestone in total box office revenue. What a great thing to have been achieved, mainly because this was a religious project without any connection to a major Hollywood studio.

Of course, "The Chosen" is not the only faith-based series that has become popular. Since the Mel Gibson film "The Passion of the Christ" brought in over $600 million globally in 2004, the religious genre has seen a resurrection of its own. Recent movies like the Jesus Revolution and God's Not Dead have each made over $50 million in the US box office of late. Even during a tough year for Lionsgate, their inspirational dramas Unsung Hero and Ordinary Angels still pulled in about $20 million each.

But what makes The Chosen unique is that it’s not just a one-off film. It’s a long-running, serialized story being told with care — and with every theatrical release, it builds more buzz. Creator Dallas Jenkins and lead actor Jonathan Roumie (who plays Jesus) have tapped into something that resonates with their audience: a grounded, human portrayal of biblical stories, delivered in a fresh, cinematic way.

Whether you’re a longtime fan or just curious about what the hype’s about, now’s a good time to hop on. The Chosen: Last Supper – Part 2 is now playing in theaters, and a third batch of episodes is still on the way. Don’t be surprised if this series keeps breaking records quietly — one episode at a time.
