The series, which is based on a long-running manga, follows a crew of pirates and their adventures at sea under their boisterous captain, Monkey D. Luffy, as they seek out the legendary treasure known as “One Piece.” Season 1 hints at the backgrounds and early adventures of the crew members.

We start our story here: Luffy, who, after eating the Gum-Gum Devil Fruit, has obtained the powers of rubber. He intends to find One Piece to be the King of the Pirates Then he meets Koby, a cabin boy of the Alvida Pirates and rescues him Luffy urges Koby, who wants to join the Marines, to do so.

Luffy sets off on a journey and meets Roronoa Zoro, a three-sword swordsman who wants to be the world's best swordsman. Next, Luffy saves Zoro from a corrupt Marine captain named Morgan and adds him to his crew.

Then, Luffy and Zoro run into Nami the mysterious thief/mapper who, at first, is on the road to stealing a map of the Grand Line, the supposed home of the One Piece. Vol. 2: Luffy attacks Buggy the Clown, a pirate captain who has eaten the Chop-Chop Devil Fruit, which lets him divide himself into pieces, and convinces Nami to join his crew.

The crew presses on, taking on Usopp, a bragger of a marksman and a compulsive big-talker, who wants to be a brave warrior of the sea. His loyalty towards his friends and skills with slingshot makes him a vital character in the crew.

The final main recruit is Sanji, a rude-but-charming master chef and martial artist whose goal is to find the All Blue, a fabled sea described as a chef’s paradise. His Black Leg Style of fighting as well as his skills as a cook made him an invaluable member of the crew.

They have plenty of obstacles in their way and many foes at their heels, (this includes the Marines and Luffy's estranged grandfather, Vice Admiral Monkey D. Garp, who's bent on apprehending Luffy. The crew also battles the affections of major pirates like Buggy and Arlong, a brutal Fish-Man pirate, who enslaves Nami’s village.

The crew does eventually defeat the tyrant and liberate Nami’s home village, officially making them a bona fide pirate crew. They continue on their journey in search of the One Piece to follow their dreams.

  1. Luffy / Monkey D. Luffy:

    • Portrayed by Iñaki Godoy.
    • A young man who is energetic, mentally smart, and was born with the ability to stretch his body like rubber because was eating the Gum-Gum Devil Fruit.
    • Wishing to become King of the Pirates by finding the One Piece.
    • Personality is very close to the other, it shows much and is not forgotten in society.
  2. Roronoa Zoro:

    • Portrayed by Mackenyu.
    • It is the master swordsman who uses the “Three Swords Style” and aims to become the world’s greatest swordsman.
    • Becomes a member of Luffy's crew after being rescued from execution by the corrupt Marine captain, Morgan.
  3. Nami:

    • Portrayed by Emily Rudd.
    • A former Fish-Man pirate with a tragic past, he's a master thief and cartographer.
    • Joins Luffy's crew at first to steal map to Grand Line, later become loyal to them after they liberate her village.
  4. Usopp:

    • Portrayed by Jacob Romero Gibson.
    • A gifted marksman and pathological liar with dreams of becoming a valiant warrior of the sea.
    • Becomes a member of Luffy's crew and earns his keep through his cleverness and loyalty.
  5. Sanji:

    • Portrayed by Taz Skylar.
    • A culinary master and martial artist who seeks the legendary All Blue.
    • Joins Luffy’s crew after they help him defend the Baratie, a floating restaurant where he works, from foes.
  6. Vice Admiral Monkey D. Garp:

    • Portrayed by Vincent Regan.
    • Luffy’s estranged grandfather as a high-ranking Marine officer.
    • He seeks to capture Luffy, but comes to respect his grandson's will and also his dreams.
  7. Buggy the Clown:

    • A pirate captain that can separate his body into pieces, thanks to the Chop-Chop Devil Fruit.
    • Few of the antagonists the Straw Hat Pirates encounter.
  8. Koby:

    • The ex-cabin boy of the Alvida Pirates who aspires to be a Marine.
    • Meets Luffy and eventually joins the Marines and is mentored by Vice Admiral Garp.

It is these characters and their connectedness that drive the heart of “One Piece” Season 1, as they set off in search of the One Piece and their dreams.
