Alice in Borderland Season 3 Trailer: Arisu and Usagi Face New Deadly Games

Info in Movie News | Netflix has dropped the major trailer for the third season of Alice in Borderland, and it is really getting people excited. Yamazaki Kento returns as Ryohei Arisu and Tsuchiya Tao is going to reprise the role of Yuzuha Usagi. The latest clip promises an exciting follow-up to the Japanese survival thriller as Arisu goes back to Borderland to save Usagi before time runs out.

According to Screenrant, season 3 raises the emotional stakes by separating Arisu and Usagi after they are both pulled back into Borderland. Though the couple had finally escaped at the end of season 2, the mysterious world has a way of drawing them in again. In this particular instance, Usagi disappears and Arisu takes the dangerous step to accompany her in the dark. After being placed on different teams in the deadly games, the two opponents have to battle for their lives but at the same time they can’t help but to try to find a way of being together again.

Season 3 is one of the coolest things about the new chapter, as it takes completely different and original direction. The first two seasons have been majorly faithful to the manga by Haro Aso, but the new one decides to go on a different path. Having no source material, the team of creators headed by the director Shinsuke Sato and the scriptwriter Yasuko Kuramitsu are allowed to spread the Borderland world in a number of new ways. For fans, this means that they will be finding new things to discover at every step, and the feeling of uncertainty which will keep the excitement very high, will still be present.

According to the official Netflix synopsis, the season is described in a way that Arisu and Usagi’s personal stakes are emphasized. It is after the two had a great time together in the real world that they started to experience bizarre dreams and cameos which borderland kept reminding them of. When Usagi suddenly disappears, she is guided by a mysterious scholar obsessed with the afterlife, leading her back into the dangerous dimension. Arisu, crushed, meets Banda, who after all, lies in the Borderland and tells him what happened to Usagi. Arisu was so determined not to lose her that she went back to the games.

The trailer gives a glimpse of the entire movie with a lot of eye-popping visuals and tense situations. From a tense game involving colorful dice to a spectacular sequence where flaming arrows rain down on a shrine at night, season 3 looks ready to push the limits of Japanese VFX technology. Yamazaki confessed that he was very excited to be able to see the scene with the flaming arrow actually visualized, as it had been a very impactful moment in the original manga. On the other hand, Tsuchiya named the dice game as one of the most powerful scenes that got the core of Alice in Borderland, the existence, the end, and the decisions that the characters take regarding the way they live.

The most captivating aspect of the current season is the choice to have Arisu and Usagi in different groups. This not only tests their bond but also introduces fresh dynamics among new and returning characters. Yamazaki revealed that finding out the different vibes of each team was a very fascinating part of filming. Tsuchiya confirmed that to support her portrayal, she revisited the first two seasons of the series and that she made Usagi's feeling journey consistent even when the plot goes beyond familiar grounds.

Moreover, from the trailer, Netflix presented the main visual for the 3rd season. The image depicts Arisu and Usagi extend their hands to each other while the menacing Joker card hovers over them. A swirling black vortex below hints at the overwhelming danger ahead, while supporting characters like Ryuji and Banda surround them with either desperation or menace. The Joker card, long teased in the manga but never fully realized, appears to be the central theme of the season, possibly representing the ultimate stage of Borderland.

Since its inception, Alice in Borderland is among those Japanese series that Netflix is proud to call its own. It really is a remarkable achievement for a TV show to rank among the top 10 across different countries just after its second season was released in 2022 and also following the success of Squid Game. As the Squid Game flame is slowly dying, Alice in Borderland is getting ready to comfortably take its place in the front row of survival game series.

Not only on screen but also off, Shinsuke Sato is back at the helm of the director's chair. He brings with him his wealth of experience from live-action manga adaptations such as Kingdom and Bleach. Yutaka Yamada also returns to provide the score for the series, making sure that the eerie music is at par with the intensity of the visuals. The cast is getting bigger with the addition of Hayato Isomura, Kento Kaku, and Ayaka Miyoshi who will be the new faces while the returning cast will still be there. The expectations are immense with such a talented creative team and a fanbase longing for more.

The question remains: will Arisu and Usagi finally find a way out, or will the Borderland consume them once again? One thing is certain, the Joker stage will push them further than ever before.
