However, the goth queen of gloom is not satisfied. “I liked it better when I was feared and hated,” she grumbles, while her peers gather around her, begging for autographs. But there’s no time for admiration, or personal space. Within minutes of the first episode, we’re introduced to a fresh villain, the Kansas City Scalper. Golden Kamuy Final Arc Airs January 2026, Two Prologue Movies Open in Fall

Golden Kamuy Final Arc Airs January 2026, Two Prologue Movies Open in Fall

Info in Movie News | Golden Kamuy is officially entering its final chapter, and fans have a lot to look forward to. The anime adaptation of Satoru Noda’s critically acclaimed manga will air its final arc in January 2026 on Tokyo MX and several other channels. But before that, the story will expand with two special prologue movies titled Golden Kamuy: Sapporo Beer Kōjō-hen (Golden Kamuy: Sapporo Beer Factory Arc), hitting Japanese theaters on October 10 and October 31, 2025.

According to Anime News Network,  that the new movies will be about the main three characters, Sugimoto, Asirpa, and Shiraishi, continuing their quest for the secret Ainu gold. They end up in Sapporo on a mission after an escaped prisoner called Keiji Ueji. But they’re not the only ones in pursuit. Members of the 7th Division, including Tokishige Usami and Warrant Officer Mokutarō Kikuta, are hunting a different fugitive responsible for a string of murders targeting local prostitutes.

The stakes quickly escalate when Toshizō Hijikata’s faction also joins the manhunt. During a rare moment of peace, Sugimoto and Hijikata have a short agreement to work together and set an ambush for the killer at the Sapporo beer factory, which they are sure will be the place of the next crime. However, unrest breaks out as the 7th Division and Ueji join the same spot, hence the mission becomes a bloody battle of the survival of the fittest.

The upcoming final arc retains most of the core staff from the fourth season. Chief director Shizutaka Sugahara is back at Brains Base, with Noboru Takagi once again handling script supervision. Character designer Takumi Yamakawa also returns. Yukihiro Shibutani and Mao Miyake, both known for their work on Natsume’s Book of Friends, are serving as art directors. Sound production is managed by Magic Capsule, and distribution will be handled by WOWOW.

The prologue also introduce a brand-new theme song “Kogane no Kanata” (Beyond the Gold), which is the work of a team-up between hip-hop artist Awich and genre-blending band ALI. A preview of the instrumental version can be heard in the teaser trailer, offering a hint at the cinematic tone of the upcoming arc.

The anime’s fourth season originally aired in October 2022, but was temporarily halted after episode 6 due to the passing of a key staff member. Production resumed in April 2023, and the remaining episodes (7–13) aired with renewed dedication from the team. Since its debut in 2018, Golden Kamuy has built a reputation for balancing brutal action, historical detail, and the emotional bond between its characters, especially Sugimoto and Asirpa.

The original manga ran from 2014 to 2022 in Weekly Young Jump, and is available in English through Viz Media. A new spin-off novel, Golden Kamuy: Tokushirō Tsurumi’s Aspiration, written by Amon Ibuko, is also on the way. It will be bundled with a limited edition Blu-ray featuring animated adaptations of the manga’s popular bonus chapter “Inazuma Gōtō to Mamushi no O-Gin”, and the mini-episode “Shimaenaga”.

With the end now in sight, Golden Kamuy is pulling out all the stops to deliver a finale worthy of its legacy.
