Info in Movie News | Netflix has finally confirmed that Alice in Borderland Season 3 will premiere on September 25, 2025. The Japanese sci-fi thriller is back with even higher stakes, deeper emotional turmoil, and mind-bending survival games that blur the lines between life and death. With Kento Yamazaki and Tao Tsuchiya returning as Arisu and Usagi, the series dives straight into the aftermath of their supposed escape from the Borderland.
According to Variety, Season 3 picks up with Arisu and Usagi now living peacefully as a married couple. However, the peace does not last for a long time. Their minds are plagued by nightmare-like images which, among other things, suggest that the mission in the Borderland is not yet completed. The plot darkens considerably after Usagi disappears without any clue. She is brought back to the Borderland by Ryuji (Kento Kaku), a scholar of the afterlife whose research is as mysterious as the realm he is investigating.
Arisu, who is strongly motivated to find her, is introduced to Banda (Hayato Isomura), a man who has changed his place of living to the Borderland and brings a scary message to her, that is, Usagi has come back to the game. Time being short, Arisu decides to go back to the dangerous place, where they barely managed to get out a while ago, thus she is doomed to repeat the same. But this time, it’s not just about survival, it’s about saving the one person who means everything to him.
The teaser that was released earlier this week starts with the joker card and it was the last stage of the Borderland. The whole video was a flashback and it had very disturbing images, the abandoned houses were full of bodies, there were electric traps, the stairs were on fire and the players were masked and they used weapons as if they were training for killing efficiently. It’s clear the games have evolved, and not in a good way.
Returning director Shinsuke Sato once again helms the series, with Yasuko Kuramitsu co-writing the script. The show is developed by Robot, with production support from The Seven. The creative team also includes composer Yutaka Yamada, cinematographer Taro Kawazu, and production designers Iwao Saito and Shin Nakayama. Action sequences are directed by Yuji Shimomura, with Atsushi Doi handling visual effects. Producers Akira Morii and Tomoki Takase round out the core team.
The cast is bigger than ever. Alongside returning faces like Hayato Isomura, Ayaka Miyoshi, and Katsuya Maiguma, Season 3 introduces new players such as Koji Ohkura, Risa Sudou, Hiroyuki Ikeuchi, Tina Tamashiro, Kotaro Daigo, Hyunri, Sakura Kiryu, Yugo Mikawa, Joey Iwanaga, Akana Ikeda, and Kento Kaku. Each brings a fresh dynamic to the game, as the Joker card looms large over the entire season.
Haro Aso’s manga was the inspiration for Alice in Borderland that has gained a lot of popularity around the world after Season 2 of it was on top of Netflix’ non-English global TV chart and broke the records of the viewers in Japan. The next season is set to go beyond characters’ and fans’ minds and feelings untangle that is typical of the series.
The question we wanted an answer to still stands, is Arisu capable of rescuing Usagi and himself before the game takes them both?
