Info in Movie News | Wednesday Addams is back at Nevermore Academy, and no, she’s not thrilled about it. With new enemies lurking, a stalker sending cryptic threats, and her name now plastered all over campus like some reluctant rockstar, Wednesday’s sophomore year is shaping up to be even stranger than the last. According to The Guardian, Season 2 opens with a flash of chaos. After saving Nevermore from the undead pilgrim Joseph Crackstone in Season 1, Wednesday has earned a cult-like following among her peers. However, the goth queen of gloom is rather unimpressed. However, the goth queen of gloom is not satisfied. “I liked it better when I was feared and hated,” she grumbles, while her peers gather around her, begging for autographs. But there’s no time for admiration, or personal space. Within minutes of the first episode, we’re introduced to a fresh villain, the Kansas City Scalper. He’s a doll-collecting, serial-killing dog groomer in a velour tracksuit played with greasy ...

John Cena Leads Star-Studded Cast in Action-Packed Matchbox Movie

John Cena Leads Star-Studded Cast in Action-Packed Matchbox Movie

Info in Movie News | John Cena doesn’t plan on taking it easy any time soon. The WWE wrestling icon, who has now become a Hollywood action star, is preparing to head the cast of Matchbox, a movie inspired by the famous Mattel toy line. After Barbie’s huge success in 2023, Hollywood has drawn some additional energy from the Past and has decided to tap nostalgic brands for box office hits, and Matchbox may be the next one. This high-octane project promises big action, bold characters, and a creative team ready to raise the stakes.

According to Collider, Cena will take the lead under the direction of Sam Hargrave, best known for helming both Extraction movies starring Chris Hemsworth. While Hargrave has a strong background in stunt coordination, Cena teased that Matchbox will let him explore more as a storyteller. “The thing I love about Matchbox is Sam also gets to flex a little range,” Cena shared during a recent interview with Collider’s Steve Weintraub. “He gets to tell stories. I’m not saying Extraction didn’t have those, but he gets to lean into a lot of character arc. Everyone will be blown away by the action.”

This is the first time that Cena has partnered with Hargrave, however the bond was clearly evident among the staff. Cena lauded the director’s work and vision, confessing that the experience was deeply moving. “I gained a friend and a ton of respect for a person in Sam Hargrave,” he stated. “He asks your absolute best every single day, without fail. I now know why his stuff looks the way it does, he refuses for it to fail.”

In Matchbox, Cena is joined by an impressive ensemble cast. Jessica Biel (The Better Sister) and Corey Stoll (Ant-Man) have major parts, as well as Sam Richardson (Ted Lasso), Danai Gurira (The Walking Dead), Teyonah Parris (The Marvels), and Arturo Castro (Road House). As the cast is that heavy, it is not just an action movie but also a movie with diverse characters and emotional dynamics that the movie is promising.

David Coggeshall and Jonathan Tropper wrote the screenplay, and the latter is also engaged in writing the script for Shawn Levy's next Star Wars project featuring Ryan Gosling, for which he is currently writing the script. That background alone definitely elevates the expectations for Matchbox, implying that the movie will be more than just an action genre flick. In addition, Matt Westbrook is a story consultant who helps to make the narrative more convincing and cohesive.

While there still is no firm release date for Matchbox, the movie appears to be one of the most eagerly awaited action movies coming up. Cena is the lead, a director who knows how to pull off amazing visual sequences and a cast that adds dramatic weight to the picture, it seems to me that Matchbox is the next big thing in the action movie scene.

Fans of Extraction and high-energy thrillers should keep this movie on their radar, and who knows, if all goes well, Matchbox could kickstart a new action franchise. One thing’s for sure: John Cena’s engine is running at full speed, and he’s not looking to hit the brakes anytime soon.
