Info in Movie News | Just less then a week to go before Abel Tesfaye, better known as The Weeknd, officially steps into the world of cinema with Hurry Up Tomorrow, a psychological thriller that marks the final chapter of his pop music persona. Featuring standout performances from Wednesday star Jenna Ortega and Oscar nominee Barry Keoghan, the film blends haunting visuals with deeply personal themes that reflect the end of an era for the multi-award-winning artist.

According to Collider, Hurry Up Tomorrow follows a fictionalized version of The Weeknd as he navigates the mental and emotional breakdown of a global superstar. Suffering from severe insomnia, his character begins to experience vivid, dreamlike episodes where he meets a mysterious woman played by Ortega. She guides him through a bizarre escapade of weird and disturbing mental images that raise questions about success, personality, and the end of life.

Ortega plays a very significant role in the movie. Beside the fact that she is the one ho direct us through such incredible images, she might also be the singer’s mental problem. The spectators have to understand her character, which goes from realistic to non real multiple times during the story. For people who are used to the role of Wednesday Addams, her performance in the movie as Ortega will be a quite surprising and abstract to more extent.

A story was written by Tesfaye, director Trey Edward Shults, and also his longtime collaborator Reza Fahim, that was inspired by real-life situations, such as his live show in 2022 where Tesfaye had a problem with his vocal cord. That experience was instrumental in recording the track and opening up the music of the movie that dealt with the artists fashion and the pressure of public eyes.

The initial reactions to the film after a special screening in Phoenix have been remarkably good. Many fans and critics have been quoted to be saying the movie to be “a piece of art, adventurous, as well as original”. The same viewers additionally pointed out the music used as the film's backbone, and credited the sound designers with great sound effects. Lopatin and Burn worked in close collaboration with the singer so as to make the music become the embodiment of the characters on the screen.

Besides what can be witnessed in the music and the visual, Hurry Up Tomorrow from people Sabbat said that it is the most internalized project that Tesfaye has ever carried out. Through a letter he recently wrote to his supporters, he revealed the film’s real purpose of shifting from superficial storytelling and diving into the sensitive and unfiltered elements of stardom. He not only acknowledged but also appreciated all those followers who have been with him since the days of the House of Balloons, and indicated that this movie would be the real metamorphosis stage than the end point.

With a bold visual style, abstract narrative, and powerful performances, Hurry Up Tomorrow isn’t just a movie. It’s a farewell statement to the persona known as The Weeknd and a window into the mind of the artist behind it.

Hurry Up Tomorrow hits theaters on May 16, and fans of music-driven storytelling won’t want to miss it.
