Ao Ashi Season 2 Confirmed for 2026, New Studio and Visual Revealed

Info in Movie News | After more than three years since Ashito Aoi first stepped onto the anime field, Ao Ashi is officially returning with a second season. The announcement came from the anime’s official website and social media channels, alongside a brand new key visual that’s already building excitement for its 2026 release.

According to Crunchyroll, The change of Season 2 has gone through is the brand of the production studios now associated with it. The first installment featured Production I.G as the animation producer, one of the most renowned studios, which produced hits such as Haikyuu!! and Psycho-Pass, while the second season is handled by TMS Entertainment. The latter has given the audience some of the biggest anime series like Dr. Stone, Detective Conan, and Fruits Basket making us contemplate the fresh direction and visual style that the studio would introduce to Ao Ashi.

Ao Ashi is the story of a young football player Ashito Aoi, who came to be a football sensation from Ehime Prefecture and is very talented. Ashito is a Japanese youngster who has just been dealt a bitter blow in the last junior high school competition and was all gloom about his future. But it turns around when Tatsuya Fukuda, the coach of a youth academy affiliated to a J-League top tier club runs into him. He not only spots Ashito but also unabashedly asks for his consent to go to the school that trains future football stars. Starting from that point Ashito's days changed and he became stronger, met new compatriots, and kept working hard to make his dream of being a professional soccer player come true.

In 2022, the first season of the anime was warmly welcomed by the target audience for the real-with-soccer content, which concentrated not only on the performance of the players on the field but also on the strategy, the work in harmony, and the emotional burden experienced by the players. This show was a standout in the anime sports genre for showing the technical aspects of the sport and also providing a story that is human-like and character-driven at the same time.

The new visual key given for Season 2 possibly shows Ashito more mature than before, which might be an indication of his forthcoming tougher challenges. According to the news, it will be the "Team A" story in the manga that the second season will narrate, in which Ashito, through that, will be the new good competition for others, and he will face elite players who look much more confident than before and have better skills.

While the production studio has changed, there is still no confirmation on whether core staff like director Akira Sato or scriptwriter Masahiro Yokotani will return. Season 1 featured music by Masaru Yokoyama, who helped set the emotional tone for Ashito’s journey. Fans are eagerly marking time in anticipation of the next installment of the series to the landings of the new team.

The Ao Ashi manga by Yugo Kobayashi is the source of the anime, and currently, we are getting to witness the final chapters of the series. The latter will be concluded with Volume 40 which means this might be the best timing for the fans to re-read the series before the reapparance of the anime. New visuals, new cast and a storyline with even bigger stakes are the elements that make it clear that Season 2 of Ao Ashi is able to push the show to the next level.
