Info in Movie News | Sylvester Stallone might be best known for playing Rocky Balboa, but now the spotlight’s shifting to the real-life story behind the legend. A new biopic titled I Play Rocky is currently in development at Amazon MGM Studios—and no, Stallone isn’t starring, writing, or directing this one. This time, he’s the subject.

Dilansir dari Collider, the movie will be directed by Oscar-winner Peter Farrelly, the filmmaker behind Green Book. I Play Rocky will follow Stallone’s journey in the mid-70s, when he was a broke actor who wrote the Rocky script in just three and a half days. After turning down a deal with ABC to avoid having his script rewritten, he eventually sold it to United Artists—on one condition: he had to play Rocky. The studio wanted a big name like James Caan, but Stallone stood his ground, and the rest is history.

The script is being written by Peter Gamble (Trenches, Office Uprising), and veteran producer Toby Emmerich (Game Night) is on board. Interestingly enough, Stallone is not taking any part in this project whatsoever.

The Rocky movie came out in 1976 was considered to be a low-budget movie that eventually became $225 million worldwide hit on the box office and received the Best Picture' of the year award at the Oscars. Moreover, it was launching the franchise that is still running very well today with the Creed spin-offs.

Even without participating in the biopic, Stallone stays busy. He’s working on season 3 of Tulsa King and recently wrote and produced the Jason Statham action flick A Working Man.

No cast or release date yet for I Play Rocky, but it’s already shaping up to be a knockout.
