PGA Awards 2025 best movie winner list, “Anora” best movie

Info in Movie News | The 36th Producers Guild of America (PGA) Awards results are in, and the prestigious best film award, often referred to as the "Darryl F. Zanuck Award" went to the indie contender "Anora." This win overshadowed the rest of the competitors, including "A Complete Unknown" and "Conclave"—which are out in the wild now, "Dune: Part Two", "Emilia Pérez", "A Real Pain", "September 5", "The Brutalist", "The Substance" and "Wicked".

Now just come off winning the "Critics Choice Awards" and the "Directors Guild of America (DGA) Awards", the success of "Anora" means it is now well-positioned for the upcoming 2025 Oscars.

The PGA’s “Darryl F. Zanuck” award is a good predictor of which film will win the Academy Award for “Best Film,” with that happening 16 times over the last 21 years. The Oscar-winning film Oppenheimer won the PGA last year as well. “Anora” has six Oscar nominations as of the date of this, pending one for “Best Picture”.

In the TV domain, the "Hacks" received the "Danny Thomas Award" for "Episodic Television Comedy". Now in its third season, this drama series follows a nearly faded stand-up comedian helped by a comedy writer.

"Baby Reindeer" won the "David L. Wolper Award" for "Limited Series or Anthology Television". This comedy-Psychological thriller show, aired by Netflix, consists of seven episodes. Before ou can watch it on Netflix, you can check the synopsis, in here (Synopsis: Baby Reindeer 2024)

The "Norman Felton Award" for "Episodic Television Drama" has been granted to "Shōgun", a series produced by FX Production. This series explores the life of a Japanese Samurai, the Shogun, and his exposure to cultures beyond Japan. The PGA Awards also honored other categories such as Best Live Entertainment for "Saturday Night Live", Best Documentary for "Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story", and Best Animated Film for "The Wild Robot". 

At this year's PGA Awards, special awards were conferred on industry figures of note for their important contributions to film and TV production. Chris Meledandri, the boss of Illumination, was given the "David O. Selick Achievement Award". Dana Walden received the "Milestone Award", while Taika Waititi won the "Norman Lear Achievement Award". The "Trailblazer Award" was posthumously bestowed on Lynda Obst and Paula Weinstein.
