Yakuza: Like a Dragon, Adaptation Series from Game Release on Prime This Month

Info In Movie News |  Ryoma Takeuchi (Japanese actor) will star, in the lead role in the new series, titled Like a Dragon: Yakuza. The series is based on the popular Sega video game.

Kato Kaku will also star alongside Takeuchi in his counterpart role in Like a Dragon: Yakuza.

Ryoma Takeuchi will star as Kazuma Kiryu, an esteemed yakuza figure, and Kaku will be playing Kiryu's childhood friend Akira Nishikiyama.

Like a Dragon: Yakuza follows a yakuza member, Kazuma Kiryu, across two timelines; one set in 1995 and the other 2005.

Described as an intimidating and unbeatable yakuza, Kiryu reunites with his childhood friend Akira Nishikiyama.

A teaser trailer for Like a Dragon: Yakuza was unveiled at Comic-Con in San Diego on Saturday, July 27. Takeuchi and Ryoma graced the event to present their latest series trailer.

The 1-minute and 19-second teaser prominently features dragon tattoo illustrations, synonymous with the yakuza members, and glimpses of Takeuchi as Kiryu, Kaku as Nishikiyama, and the underground criminal life.

Like a Dragon: Yakuza is adapted from the video game "Like a Dragon," developed by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio and released by Sega in 2020.

This marks the 8th title in the Yakuza game series and the first as a role-playing video game (RPG).

Meanwhile, Like a Dragon: Yakuza is directed by Masaharu Take and Takimoto Kengo. Take is known for directing the series "The Naked Director" (2019-2021).

The script for the series is penned by Sean Crouch and Yugo Nakamura, while Yoshida Yasuhiro and Yamada Kana are responsible for the Japanese version's screenplay.
