Info In Movie News | The Russon Bros (Joe and Anthony Russo) have been confirmed to direct both of the next Avengers movies, Doomsday and Secret Wars.
The revelation was made by Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige during his presentation at San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) on Saturday, July 27, local time.
In a statement, Anthony Russo conveyed that he and his brother were excited to be able to move forward with everyone who had made the last four films an incredible and emotionally exhausting experience.
The Russo Brothers are MCU veterans, so they know what it's like outside the world of the World Outside the World. Their journey started with “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” (2014) and went on to “Captain America: Civil War” (2016). They also directed the two most recent Avengers movies: “Infinity War” in 2018 and “Endgame” in 2019.
Joe and Anthony Russo have been given the responsibility to directing “Avengers 5” and “6” after that. “Avengers: Doomsday” is expected to come out in May 2026, and “Avengers: Secret Wars” is planned for May 2027.
Furthermore, Marvel Studios revealed a title change during SDCC for the previously announced movie, "The Kang Dynasty." The original story revolved around Kang, the main villain portrayed by Jonathan Majors, but the studio parted ways with Majors after the accusations of violence and abuse against his ex-partner. The new character, Doctor Doom, is aimed at bringing a different vibe to the saga and it will be the Robert Downey Jr. villain's return but with a slightly different twist.
Besides that, “Secret Wars” is a serialized comic published by Marvel Comics first came out between 1984 and 1985. Then, the title was used for the new story arc in the comic, published in 2015.
Moreover, this also meant that the Fantastic Four would be coming to the rescue in the Avengers 5 and 6 battles. Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach will be the ones to play the quartet.
