Info in Movie News | Netflix drama Untamed is officially set for its second season. This time the crazy adventure goes a long way from Yosemite. The streaming giant announced that the Taylor Sheridan-inspired series would move its story to the Hawaiian tropical paradise, thus changing not only the setting but also the tone of the show that fascinated a lot of people in 2025.
According to ScreenRant, Production for Untamed Season 2 will start on February 17, 2026, and end around the beginning of June. Although Netflix has not yet revealed which Hawaiian park will be the primary location, the two famous national parks of the state, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park on the Big Island and Haleakalā National Park in Maui, seem to be the most probable places. It is a great change of the outdoor setting for the series, switching from the granite cliffs of Yosemite to volcanic terrains and green tropical forests.
Untamed is a work of Mark L. Smith and Elle Smith. It is about special agent Kyle Turner, played by Eric Bana, the National Park Service Investigative Services Branch’s character. In the first season, Turner solved the case of a mysterious death of a woman at Yosemite National Park and ended up uncovering a deeper network of secrets and sorrow. The show was launched in July 2025 and very soon it became one of Netflix’s biggest hits of the year, which is reflected by the 83% critic score and 70% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Over the first two weeks, Untamed was at the top of Netflix’s list of the most-watched English-language TV shows globally.
The finale of Season 1 ended on an emotional note, with multiple shocking deaths, including Shane Maguire’s demise at the hands of Naya Vasquez and Paul Souter’s tragic decision to kill his daughter before taking his own life. After this, Kyle Turner made the decision to say goodbye to Yosemite. By his relocation to Hawaii, it is more than just a replacement of view that he indicates as well, it is a change in his emotional voyage.
Mark L. Smith previously revealed that every national park featured in Untamed is treated like a living character in the story, a reflection of Turner’s internal struggles and the cultural depth of each location. In an interview with Netflix’s TUDUM, co-creator Elle Smith explained, “We’ve done Yosemite. So what’s next? Each park has such a unique cultural and geographical identity. Exploring those places through the case and Turner’s personal journey is what fascinates us. Our theme has always been that the park itself is alive, it’s our main character.”
Smith implied that the next season will be a season where Kyle Turner will be probably very unfamiliar, and it will be a lot more challenging for him than before. Over the course of his time after the closure of Yosemite, Turner has been dealing with the multitude of cases in different parks but the new posting is his going to be the closest of his core. Making a safe assumption it can be said that he was a well-confident and most likely a very composed person while he led his team in Yosemite but now he will be thrown into the deep end, dealing with challenges that shake his usual control and therefore he will find himself unsettled. This expected change in theme and tone of the new season will reveal deeper layers of Turner’s character as he is trying to adapt to an unpredictable environment, experiencing the loss of control and feeling vulnerable.
John Wells Productions is producing Untamed Season 2 with Warner Bros. Television and Netflix. Eric Bana will reprise his role as Kyle Turner, with the new cast members making up the majority of the characters. Due to the change of the place, the audience can anticipate a more varied roster, possibly with native Hawaiian and Polynesian actors to represent the culture accurately.
The move of Untamed to Hawaii is not only a way to alter the visuals but also a way to reimagine the creativity. With a different environment and story, the series is opening the door for more episodes in the future. For instance, such a series could evolve into an anthology-style show similar to True Detective or Yellowstone, where Agent Turner would go to other parks with new cases and a different atmosphere.
The extremely short time of only twelve days between the show's premiere and its renewal by Netflix is a very loud signal of the show's success. In less than a month, Untamed was the second most-watched limited series of 2025 with more than 70 million plays in total and only the Emmy-winning Adolescence was ahead of it. The series' mix of a crime investigation in the wild plus the element of a psychological drama was the perfect cocktail both for the critics' and the audience's.
Basically, Netflix has not revealed the date when the show can be watched yet. However, it is expected that the second season of Untamed will be out very late 2026 or early 2027 according to its shooting schedule. It is still a question whether Kyle Turner will find calmness or more trouble under the sun of Hawaii, however, what is sure is that the island won’t make it easy for him.
Driven by breathtaking landscapes, deepened emotional layers, and a bunch of new enigmas waiting to be revealed, Untamed Season 2 is giving off the vibes of being one of the most awaited Netflix’s comeback of the year. Those who were captivated by the eerie charm of Yosemite are going to learn that heaven can be just as lethal.
