Info in Movie News | On February 13, 2026, Amazon MGM Studios presents Crime 101, a stylish and nerve-wracking heist movie that is going to be the next big thing in the career of Chris Hemsworth. A powerhouse trio of Hemsworth, Berry, and Ruffalo, the movie is a fierce, thrilling, and exciting tale that questions the characters' drive, ethical code, and instinct for survival.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the movie centers around Davis, a master thief character played by Chris Hemsworth, who for the last few years is a multi-million-dollar heist spree along LA’s 101 freeway. He is doing it perfect, clean, fast, and invisible, thus he never leaves any trace of his crimes. By the time he is putting together a last, big-money, life-changing heist leaving the criminal world, Davis happening to meet Sharon, an insurance broker role played by Halle Berry, whose stable and uneventful life turns upside down after meeting him. Their connection quickly evolves from intrigue to complicity, as Sharon finds herself drawn into Davis’s elaborate plan.
Mark Ruffalo in the role of detective Lou Lubesnick is the man with a mission, the one who won't let up till he finds the culprit in the mysterious string of robberies. His work unravels this quite pattern where the gang hits the same road each time, moves are done with exactness and the place is spotless leaving no indication of the mishap. Lou's chase becomes close to his heart as he gets nearer to the culprit leading to an encounter where each man tries to figure out the other's game-play under the cover of a casual talk.
The trailer serves as a metaphor for their escalating discord and danger. The movie starts with Davis and Sharon meeting at the valet stick their interaction electric but both are uneasy. At the restaurant, where they meet next, the cutting characters both of them shine - Sharon, being watchful and assured, unravels the deceitful Davis’s presence quickly, while he tries to keep calm in the face of her challenge. In the course of the deepening intimacy between them, they come up with the plan of a big theft at the company where Sharon is employed. To have a share of the score Sharon insists and although she knows of the danger she makes a choice to go down with the ship thus mixing the elements of thrill and self-destruction in her life.
On the other hand, the character played by Ruffalo is on a trail of hints that in the end reveal Davis as the one pulling the strings of the masterminded crimes. His determination to the point of obsession is what really drives him and as the movie unfolds he is very much like the desperate man he is after in his relentless pursuit. The moment when Davis and Lou finally get into a car together is highly charged albeit very quiet and full of suspicion and unspoken words, an intense scene at its zenith, making a confrontation couple will end up face to face inevitable.
Bart Layton, the director of American Animals and The Impposter, is working on a movie called Crime 101, which is based on the bestselling Don Winslow's novella. Layton worked together with Peter Straughan, the distinguished writer of the 2025 Oscar-winning Conclave, on the screenplay. The production, a collaboration of Working Title movies, RAW, and The Story Factory, is planned for a two-month shoot in Los Angeles from October 2024. The movie will be in theaters as a result of a distribution deal between Amazon MGM Studios (U.S.) and Sony Pictures (worldwide).
The three main characters' roles are just the tip of the iceberg as the movie includes other well-known actors like Barry Keoghan, Monica Barbaro, Corey Hawkins, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and Nick Nolte. Their acts are eagerly awaited to the movie's themes of loyalty, betrayal, and survival. At a CinemaCon event earlier this year, Hemsworth called the movie 'a truly exciting' one of his career and highlighted its mixture of suspense and emotional depth which make the audience keep their guessing until the last minute.
On the same subject of Hemsworth, Berry communicated her own observation about the power couple’s set. She revealed that among the many things Hemsworth did to make the shoot go smooth, his professionalism and respect stood out the most and they really made a personal connection, thereby adding to his already great actor and supportive colleague credit. Their off-screen friendship is not just a behind-the-scenes story; it’s a whole new level of their on-screen relationship which is about trust, manipulation, and moral conflict.
Besides the actors, the tone of the show was also different for Crime 101. It was a very stylish blend of traditional noir and current heist type of storytelling. The story shows that these things, greed, desire, and time, can make people do things from which they cannot turn back against the background of somewhat dirty but still bright and sunny Los Angeles. Davis is looking for atonement through one last job, Sharon is gambling with her life to get a thrill, and Lou is getting obsessed with his fight for justice. The destiny of these people is a competition where there is no real winner, and they become connected.
Crime 101 is going to be released just before Valentine’s Day. The movie is a combination of style, tension, and depth of the characters' minds that makes it very different from other crime thrillers. With Hemsworth’s energetic acting, Berry’s elegant portrayal, and Ruffalo’s powerful performance, this movie is turning out to be one of the biggest 2026 cinematic events to look forward to.
