Robert Pattinson Returns as Script for The Batman Part II Is Finally Complete

Info in Movie News | After months of silence and speculation, Gotham is officially back on the map. Director Matt Reeves has confirmed that the script for The Batman Part II is complete, with co-writer Mattson Tomlin also returning to help shape this dark and layered sequel. Fans of Robert Pattinson’s brooding take on the Caped Crusader can breathe a sigh of relief, the story continues, and it's coming together fast.

According to Collider, Tomlin took to social media to reveal the finished script through a moody behind-the-scenes glimpse, a photo of three thick black journals labeled “The Batman Part II (1), (2), (3),” complete with bat insignias, weathered pages, and the ominous phrase “GOTHAM PROJECT” scribbled across one cover. The visual is pure Gotham, unhinged, atmospheric, and perfectly in line with Reeves’ gritty vision for the Bat-verse.

Although no official plot info is massively spread now, it is clear that Robert Pattinson’s Batman is definitely coming back to be the lead. This incarnation of Bruce Wayne, a damaged and emotionally scarred man, is most probably going to tell the story of the time just after the first movie. He’s not really a hero who is slick and polished but a haunted detective still learning about the corrupt and broken Gotham. Pattinson’s rendition in the first flick really changed the perception of Batman, a more noir, more psychological, and deeply personal character.

Almost all of the core cast members are expected to come back including Zoë Kravitz as Selina Kyle, Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobblepot (The Penguin), Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon, and Andy Serkis as Alfred. Undoubtedly, Paul Dano’s Riddler may not be a significant character this time round, but Barry Keoghan’s Joker is most likely to be there as a main character after his short appearance in the first movie is still talked about.

In addition, the follow-up is not going to be a standalone movie. The forthcoming Penguin spin-off series on Max, featuring Colin Farrell, is scheduled to serve as a narrative connection between The Batman and its sequel. Therefore, fans should definitely not miss the show if they want to catch up with the gangsters of Gotham and even the ones who will be here to help Batman solve his next big problem.

As for villains, people are still talking about the main adversaries like Mr. Freeze or Hush. Matt Reeves has said that he wished to write a winter-themed noir story earlier, which is so consistent with the speculations of the fans and the rumors about the movie.

The Brave and The Bold, a different movie that is set in the DC Universe reboot by James Gunn, is definitely not the same as The Batman Part II, even though they are both being developed at the same time. Gunn has publicly stated that there's “not likely at all” a crossover between Pattinson’s Gotham and the wider DC Universe, though he did leave the door slightly ajar.

With the script finished and production likely on the horizon, The Batman Part II is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated superhero movies of the decade. And for Gotham’s most complex vigilante, the story is just getting darker.
