I am a drug and alcohol lover.” His desperation is ignored with a lack of understanding by the person on the other end of the line, who informs him that his aggressive tone has caused them and that it is not a helpful reaction. It’s ridiculous, gloomy, and bizarre in a way that is quite real, nothing if not an exact P.T. Anderson movie.
The movie also stars Sean Penn as a cold-blooded military colonel, Benicio del Toro as Ferguson’s erratic right-hand man, and rising star Chase Infiniti in a mystery role that insiders say could be a breakout moment. Regina Hall and Teyana Taylor also appear in key supporting parts, and together the cast brings an unpredictable energy to an already wild script.
